For many leading chemical companies around the world, BASF is the preferred supplier of petrochemical catalysts.
We offer a broad range of proprietary base metal and precious metal catalysts, as well as base metal oxides for several chemical and petrochemical processes. Our fixed bed and slurry catalysts are used for hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, amination, oxidation, halogenation, dehydration and hydration reactions.
In addition to our core suite of petrochemical catalyst solutions, BASF licenses, develops and operates hydrocarbon hydrogenation processes called SELOP®. Chemical companies rely on us for expertise built on more than a century in the catalysts industry.
Preferred Licensor
BASF’s operational excellence and experience make us the go-to choice for C3, C4 and Pygas processes.

0.5% Pd/Al 5637 E
0.5% Pd/Al 5637 is a precious metal catalyst specifically designed for selective hydrogenation of alpha methyle styrene (AMS) to cumene while avoiding the undesirable side reaction of hydrogenation of cumene to isopropyle cyclohexane (IPCH).
BASF Catalyst M8-15 SS3 is used for the hydrodesulphurization and hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds in, for example full range pyrolysis gasoline (Pygas), fractions of pyrolysis gasoline (BTX-Cut) and for the hydro-refining of aromatic rich cuts originating from coke oven and/or dealkylation processes.
The derived cumene yields can be recycled in the process, increasing the overall profitability of the plant.
0,5% Pd/AS 45043 is a precious metal catalyst specifically designed for selectively hydrogenating alpha methyle styrene (AMS) to cumene while avoiding the undesirable side reaction of hydrogenating cumene to isopropyle cyclohexane (IPCH). Since AMS has a very limited market, it is often desirable to hydrogenate it back to cumene and recycle it in the process.
0.75% Pd/AS R 5079 is designed for fixed bed
hydrogenation applications such as the selective
hydrogenation of phenol.
This palladium on alumina catalyst is specially
formulated for fixed bed hydrogenation where
controlled pore size and tailored Pd dispersion are
critical. The catalyst spheres are characterized by
a high mechanical strength, low pressure drop in
the reactors and therefore also a high resistance to
breakage during their utilization.
0.8% Pd/AS R 41484 is designed for fixed bed hydrogenation applications such as the selective hydrogenation of phenol. This palladium on alumina catalyst is specially formulated for fixed bed hydrogenation applications where controlled pore size and tailored Pd dispersion are critical. The catalyst spheres are characterized by a high mechanical strength, low pressure drop in the reactors and therefore also a high resistance to breakage during their utilization.
0.9% Pd/ACS R 1% Na DOPED is suited for fixed bed hydrogenation applications such as the selective hydrogenation of phenol to cyclohexanone (one step process). This palladium on alumina catalyst is specially formulated for fixed bed hydrogenation applications where controlled pore size and tailored Pd dispersion are critical. The star shaped form enhances the geometric surface area, maximizingthe catalytic performance and catalyst lifetime.
