Use of Durasorb Cryo-HRU technology, in the pre-treatment section of an LNG production plant offers an effective solution for the removal of trace HHCs, BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene), and water to cryogenic specifications in a single unit.

BASF was awarded “Best Catalyst Technology” at the 2020 Hydrocarbon Processing (HP) Awards for its Fourtune™ FCC catalyst. Fourtune is the latest product based on BASF’s Multiple Framework Topology (MFT) technology. It has been optimized to deliver superior butylene over propylene selectivity while maintaining catalyst activity and performance. The technology provides an answer to the increased demand for octane since today’s tighter sulfur regulations often require post treatment on the gasoline stream, which can negatively impact the octane pool.

Linde’s DRYREF™ syngas process in combination with BASF’s SYNSPIRE™ catalyst enable steam reforming of methane in dryer conditions and the use of CO2 as feedstock, allowing for energy savings and improved CO2 footprint. For this new technology, BASF and Linde Engineering have now received the ICIS Award 2019 for Best Process Innovation. ICIS (Independent Commodity Information Service) is the world’s largest petrochemical market information provider and each year an expert jury selects the winners of the prestigious Innovation Awards.

R&D Award for Catalyst Designed to meet the Latest Emission Regulations

The R&D Council of New Jersey recognized BASF inventors with the Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award for outstanding environmental contributions. The team of researchers developed a novel diesel oxidation catalyst design which utilizes less precious metal, while significantly improving performance. Diesel oxidation catalysts for heavy duty diesel engine emission reduction are required to remove hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide from the exhaust. At the same time, the catalysts provide additional functionality to facilitate removal of soot and nitrogen oxides by the downstream soot filter and selective catalytic reduction catalyst.
