BASF announces new MRO station in Shanghai for Deoxo™ aircraft ozone and ozone/VOC converters

BASF announced today that it plans to build an MRO station in Shanghai, China to service Deoxo™ aircraft ozone and ozone/VOC converters. The Shanghai MRO will complement BASF’s existing MRO in Huntsville, Alabama in the US. Startup is planned for the fourth quarter in 2021 and will mainly support customers in the Asia Pacific region. The MRO station will ensure maintenance is performed according to the Abbreviated Component Maintenance Manuals (ACMMs) for the Deoxo™ ozone converters and ozone/VOC converters. The updated ACMMs define in more detail the test procedures and service methods for maintaining the converters, to ensure continued industry-leading performance and regulatory compliance.

thyssenkrupp and BASF have signed a joint development agreement to expand their cooperation on the STAR process®. This proprietary dehydrogenation process from thyssenkrupp produces propylene from propane feedstocks, or iso-butylene from iso-butane feedstocks, using an exceptionally stable catalyst. thyssenkrupp, focusing on process development, and BASF, focusing on catalyst development, together aim to significantly increase the resource and energy efficiency of the process through targeted improvements in catalyst and plant design. BASF’s battery materials plants in Europe advance as planned

Preparations and construction of BASF’s battery materials plants in Europe are advancing as planned. After the casting of the foundation for its precursor cathode active material (PCAM) plant in Harjavalta, Finland, BASF has officially started construction. In addition, BASF has secured the construction permits to begin building the new cathode active material (CAM) plant in Schwarzheide, Germany. Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the multi-step investment project is progressing as scheduled for a 2022 start-up. BASF remains steadfast in its commitment to provide a reliable and sustainable local supply to cell producers and OEM customers in Europe.

BASF updates the Abbreviated Component Maintenance Manuals for its Deoxo™ ozone and ozone/VOC converter portfolios

BASF announced today that it has updated its Abbreviated Component Maintenance Manuals (ACMMs) for the Deoxo™ ozone converters and ozone/VOC converters portfolio, with the release of revised ACMMs for the Airbus A320 airplane platform and the Airbus A330/A340 airplane platform. The updated ACMMs redefine the test procedures and service methods for maintaining the converters, to ensure continued industry-leading performance of its ozone converters. Proper testing includes functional checks of both ozone conversion efficiency and pressure drop for air transiting through the converter. BASF encourages airline operators to check with their current MRO (Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) service provider to ensure compliance with the updated ACMMs.
