BASF announces new MRO station in Shanghai for Deoxo™ aircraft ozone and ozone/VOC converters

BASF announced today that it plans to build an MRO station in Shanghai, China to service Deoxo™ aircraft ozone and ozone/VOC converters. The Shanghai MRO will complement BASF’s existing MRO in Huntsville, Alabama in the US. Startup is planned for the fourth quarter in 2021 and will mainly support customers in the Asia Pacific region. The MRO station will ensure maintenance is performed according to the Abbreviated Component Maintenance Manuals (ACMMs) for the Deoxo™ ozone converters and ozone/VOC converters. The updated ACMMs define in more detail the test procedures and service methods for maintaining the converters, to ensure continued industry-leading performance and regulatory compliance.

December 16, 2019 - Linde’s DRYREF™ syngas process in combination with BASF’s SYNSPIRE™ catalyst enable steam reforming of methane in dryer conditions and the use of CO2 as feedstock, allowing for energy savings and improved CO2 footprint. BASF launches Durasorb HRU as an addition to the Durasorb portfolio for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) pre-treatment that is specifically designed for the removal of BTX and heavy hydrocarbons. It provides a 30 percent increase in capacity for BTX components, allowing for the effective removal of BTX to less than 1ppm without compromising unit efficiency.

Eramet, BASF and SUEZ partner to develop an innovative closed-loop process for the recycling of lithium-ion batteries, responding to the strong growth of the market in the coming years

Ludwigshafen, Germany; Paris, France – The “Recycling Li-ion batteries for electric Vehicle” (ReLieVe) project, founded by Eramet, BASF and SUEZ, will receive a substantial funding of €4.7 million by EIT Raw Materials, a consortium initiated and funded by the European Union, and the three members. The objective is to develop an innovative closed-loop process to recycle lithium-ion batteries from electric vehicles and to enable the production of new lithium-ion batteries in Europe.

BASF and Lutianhua plan to pilot a new production process that significantly reduces CO2 emissions

June 17, 2019 - BASF and Sichuan Lutianhua Co., Ltd. (Lutianhua) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-develop a pilot production plant, that will significantly reduce carbon emissions and increase energy efficiency in producing dimethyl ether (DME) from syngas compared to the traditional process. DME is a methanol equivalent and can be used as an intermediate to produce lower olefins like ethylene and propylene. Currently, DME is produced via methanol as an intermediate from syngas.
