BASF further invests in Europe to strengthen global leadership position for battery materials for electric vehicles

BASF is announcing a new battery materials production site in Schwarzheide, Germany, as part of its multi-step investment plan to support the European electric vehicle (EV) value chain. December 16, 2019 - Linde’s DRYREF™ syngas process in combination with BASF’s SYNSPIRE™ catalyst enable steam reforming of methane in dryer conditions and the use of CO2 as feedstock, allowing for energy savings and improved CO2 footprint. For this new technology, BASF and Linde Engineering have now received the ICIS Award 2019 for Best Process Innovation. BASF launches Durasorb™ HRU for removal of BTX and heavy hydrocarbons

BASF launches Durasorb HRU as an addition to the Durasorb portfolio for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) pre-treatment that is specifically designed for the removal of BTX and heavy hydrocarbons. It provides a 30 percent increase in capacity for BTX components, allowing for the effective removal of BTX to less than 1ppm without compromising unit efficiency.

International Trade Commission issues final determination that Umicore infringes BASF and Argonne National Laboratory patents

The full International Trade Commission (ITC) has made a final determination that Umicore has infringed on BASF and Argonne National Laboratory’s patents. The order bans in particular the import of Umicore’s infringing nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) cathode materials, confirms that lithium-ion batteries containing these materials are infringing, and finds that Umicore is contributing to and inducing its customers’ infringement.
