Durasorb® About Gas Processing
Hydrogenation C5+ SHU

Raw C5+ streams contain a significant fraction of Dienes and Styrene. They need to be thoroughly hydrogenated in order to prevent solid formation and unwanted reactions in downstream units. Our best-in-class C5+ Selective Hydrogenation catalyst family, E 15x, enables our customers a long-term processing of C5+ streams even under challenging process conditions. The catalyst series is available at a broad range of Palladium concentrations. Feeds with high sulfur contaminations can now be processed by means of our new sulfur-resistant catalyst series called E 15x S. For mid-term-oriented units our new lightweight catalyst series E 15x light with maximized Palladium efficiency can contribute the overall economics.

Hydrogenation C4 SHU

For downstream processing of raw C4 feeds, 1,3-Butadiene can be selectively hydrogenated into valuable olefins. By applying BASF C4 Selective Hydrogenation Catalysts, a reliable full conversion of Dienes and Diolefins can be warranted for years. Furthermore, the 2-Butene content can be maximized by applying our innovative H0-45 catalyst series. A high 2-Butene concentration will boost the efficiency of Alkylation and Metathesis units. In case the 1-Butene content shall be kept as for instance for Dimerization and alpha-Olefins formation, our H0-42 catalyst series is the right choice for your process.

Products

Hydrogenation C3 SHU

C3 Selective Hydrogenation Catalysts are the state-of-the-art solution to hydrogenate reactive molecules such as Methylacetylene (MA) and Propadiene (PD) in raw C3 feed streams. Our Palladium based catalyst solutions warrant a selective hydrogenation of MAPD to boost the Propylene gain in your process over years. Due to the advanced catalyst formulation the formation of green-oil can be significantly reduced. Our new lightweight catalyst series has just been launched to minimize cost of fill by maximizing the utilization of precious metal.

Products

Hydrogenation C2 SHU

High purity Ethylene streams require Selective Hydrogenation Catalysts. For tail-end applications, BASF offers the long term approved C2 Selective Hydrogenation Catalyst, H0-28. Our catalytic solution ensures a selective and reliable conversion of reactive Acetylene into valuable Ethylene for multiple years on stream.

Purification Ethylene Recovery
About purification

Ethylene recovery units serve to recover valuable ethylene from off-gas streams coming from cat cracker or coker units. The upgrading of the streams requires removal of a multitude of different impurities ranging from O2, NOx, different sulfur components, heavy metals, multiple unsaturated hydrocarbons (like acetylene) and water. The treatment consists typically of absoprtion and adsorption steps as well as low temperature distillation steps. BASF offers, among other products, state of the art removal of oxygen with PuriStar® R3-81 while minimizing ethylene loss (working also in the presence of high concentrations of CO). Of special interest for refineries are also newly introduced lead-free adsorbents like PuriStar® R9-PAR and R9-SR. About purification

Propylene recovery units serve to upgrade refinery grade propylene to chemical or polymer grade propylene, which bring a significant economic boost to refineries. The upgrading of the streams coming from cat cracker units requires removal of different impurities ranging from different sulfur components, oxygenates, CO, traces of multiple unsaturates (like MAPD) to heavy metals and water. The treatment consists typically of absorption and adsorption steps as well as low temperature distillation. BASF offers among other products, newly introduced PuriStar® R3-22.
