The industrial production of hydrogen peroxide is dominated by anthraquinone autooxidation process, which is based on reduction/oxidation cycling between anthraquinone and anthrahydroquinone. While the reaction is very selective towards hydrogen peroxide, secondary reactions lead to accumulation of inactive compounds which have to be reverted back to active species or removed from the system. BASF offers high performance activated alumina products for regeneration of “working solution” in hydrogen peroxide plants.
