Did you know there can be 5x more air pollution inside your house than outside of it? Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants. Understanding and controlling common pollutants indoors can help reduce risk of indoor health concerns. BASF offers the widest portfolio of adsorbent technologies for a broad spectrum of applications in industries such as refining, petrochemical, chemical, and gas processing. The BASF portfolio includes proprietary alumina, silica, alumino-silica gels and a broad line of base metal oxide guard bed materials, including the PuriStar family. At BASF, our Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) catalyst and additive offerings together with our expert technical services build the right solution to create value within any unit’s constraints. The increasing demand for energy and resources is what drives us to develop more sustainable solutions, while addressing the need for energy efficiency and conservation. We partner with those who share our commitment to a healthier, more natural and more affordable future for energy and resources. We are constantly improving the quality and reliability of our products, and strive for even greater efficiency and productivity. BASF Natural Gas experts have a diverse portfolio of products to custom design a solution and help you meet your Natural Gas treatment needs. BASF has been serving the natural gas treatment market for over 60 years. With more than 150 years of experience in metal sourcing, trading, and hedging, we’ve built tangible results for our industrial customers. With more than 100 years of experience in recycling materials, BASF’s end-to-end recycling program is known and trusted around the globe. As a leader in precious-metal thermocouples for many years, BASF recently applied its technological expertise to optical-based temperature measurement. BASF Sorbead® Air adsorbents are alumino silicate gels in the form of hard, spherical beads. They are essential in removing water from compressed air so that the efficiency of chemical processes is not compromised. Sorbead® Air is the most energy saving and environmentally friendly adsorbent available for the air compression industry. Innovative, step-change technology with dual-purpose performance: removal of heavy hydrocarbons and water to cryogenic specifications in a single unit. BASF announces series of new product innovations in its selective hydrogenation catalysts portfolio

  • New palladium alumina catalysts offer superior activity and tolerance to sulfur impurities
  • New PTA catalyst CBA-250 with significantly lower Palladium content

A new series of commercially proven alumina catalysts is now available with new performance features that can benefit selective hydrogenation applications such as first stage PYGAS or selective hydrogenation of dienes in C4 olefin streams. This new series of Pd on spherically shaped E15x catalysts replaces the E14x series of Pd alumina catalysts which have been used commercially for over thirty years in selective hydrogenation applications.

The new series of alumina supported catalysts offers better activity and tolerance to poisons such as sulfur due to higher Pd dispersion. The catalysts are also very uniform in size and shape which helps to prevent mal-distribution of feed in fixed bed reactor applications. This new series of selective hydrogenation catalysts is available with Pd contents ranging from 0.15 to 0.75 % Pd and can be produced in BASF plant sites in Europe and the United States as well.

Another innovation is the new purified terephthalic acid (PTA) catalyst CBA-250 which offers lower Pd content compared to the standard commercial PTA catalysts CBA-300 and CBA-400 as well as standard competitive PTA catalysts which have much higher Pd contents. The lower Pd content makes CBA 250A commercially attractive and easy to adopt as it is formulated to be equivalent to standard commercial PTA catalysts.

“BASF continues to drive innovation to help our customers be more successful and the new selective hydrogenation catalysts offer is creating exceptional value for our customers,” says Detlef Ruff, Senior Vice President, Process Catalyst at BASF.

“We are looking forward to sharing more information on the new product offer with our customers during the upcoming virtual European Petrochemical Associations Conference (EPCA) from October 5-7,” says Adrian Steinmetz, Vice President, Chemical Catalysts at BASF, “We have set up webinars that can also be found on our selective hydrogenation catalysts website.”
